Purpose and Scope:

The incumbent will oversee distribution operations and provide supervision of warehouse staff. The incumbent is responsible for receiving, stocking inventory, issuing supplies/materials, maintaining inventory systemically-physically, records, and KPI’s. The team member is also responsible for coordinating inventory pick-ups, oversees the maintenance of board vehicles, equipment, assisting with monthly and annual inventory-cycle counts, and performing related work as required. The position works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversees all aspects of shipping and receiving; product storage, staging and reorganization; and product picking and loading for delivery to sites.
  • Assist with developing a HACCP or Food Safety Defense plan to ensure inventory is in FIFO order. Implement work-place safety initiatives that foster a safe working environment. Best Practices for product storage and transportation adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements for temperature control and safety. Develop and implement a cleaning schedule for the docks, cooler, and freezer daily. Monitor OJI and report injuries within 24 hours.
  • Model effective communication skills written and orally. Identify areas of continuous improvement in practicing lean management for warehouse operations and make recommendations for process efficiencies.
  • Provides leadership in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures and employee programs in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Report vendor delivery non-compliances regarding receiving inbounds. Communicate internally with cross functional departments pertaining to non-compliances regarding receiving inbounds to resolve receiving-shipping-quality challenges. Demonstrate effective lumping, repackaging techniques and assessing damages daily to reduce shrinkage.
  • Participates in cross functional departmental meetings, plan, direct, and coordinate team activities to ensure accuracy, verification of records, and reporting of shipping and receiving of product from the initiation to final operational stages.
  • Monitor and Update move tickets in the Food and Warehouse Management systems daily and submit accurate records to the Inventory team.
  • Review, sign, and date shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Plans, schedules, assigns, and monitors daily route assignments to ensure sites receives goods in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Supervises staff establishing standards and effectively select, train, motivate, delegate, discipline, monitor and evaluate performance to ensure targets and goals are met. Attends PD trainings, meetings, seminars and/or workshops as required to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Ensures the teams’ goals and activities are aligned with and support the broader goals and objectives of Nutrition Services. Ensure MSCS training and PLZ for each team member is completed accurately and timely.
  • Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling, assigning employees to specific tasks, and follow up on work results frequently daily.
  • Responsible for completing requisitions and justifications for preventative maintenance and repairs, PPE purchases for all warehouse operations including, but not limited to, refrigerated trucks, material handling equipment, forklifts, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to operate and be certified on warehouse electrical equipment i.e.... pallet jack and forklift effectively
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to swiftly and accurately understand complex data and perform analysis.
  • Skills in developing data-supported solutions and using fact-based logic; ability to translate complex analysis in easy-to-understand manner and present to a broad audience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding leadership skills and ability to build high-performing teams through both recruitment and selection and professional development.
  • Ability to manage daily administrative tasks without losing sight of long-term goals and planning.
  • Knowledge of transportation, logistics, and routing operations
  • Ability to manage and maintain a fleet of both dry and reefer trucks.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use appropriate software applications and peripheral office equipment effectively; Has computer aptitude and ability to learn pertinent systems and programs.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
Physical Demands : Requires heavy work involving standing, walking, bending, stooping, balancing, grasping and reaching overhead, repetitive use of the arms and legs, lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds and heavier amounts with the assistance of dollies, material handling or motorized equipment etc. on a regular basis. Some dexterity in operating office equipment. Must be able to use hands and fingers.
Unavoidable Hazards : The position may be exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dim lights, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, disease/pathogens, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals.
Sensory (ADA) Requirements : The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities, color perception, depth perception.
