Communications Coordinator - Health Careers Resource Center

Essential Functions
The University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for a full time Communications Specialist position in the Health Careers Resource Center (HCRC). This position is primarily responsible for communications on behalf of the HCRC and the Omaha Area Health Education Center (AHEC), and providing administrative support to HCRC faculty and staff.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining the HCRC and AHEC website and social media feeds.
  • Designing fliers and other materials for prospective and current students.
  • Distributing information about immediate healthcare position openings, volunteer opportunities, and scribing positions.
  • Coordinating HCRC-affiliated communications and events (AHEC, director priorities, etc.)
  • Responding to e-mails and phone calls.
  • Coordinating off-campus and on-campus visits to regional healthcare training facilities to learn more about UNO’s and other programs pre-health and professional offerings.
  • Receiving, summarizing, and filing students records and documentation
  • Processing and supporting applications of all scholarships and scholarship programs administered in the HCRC and through AHEC.
  • Placing orders in e-Shop for materials and supplies and processing P-card transactions for HCRC faculty and staff.
The person in this position will utilize several PC- or web-based applications, including but not limited to: Meta Business Suite, Constant Contact, Canva, Marq, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office.

Required Qualifications
Required education: High school diploma or GED.
Required experience: working with high school or college students.

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Biology, or other related field.
