HOURS: Full Time, 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday with flex hours. Some evening, weekend and holiday work will be required to assist with after hour activities, to meet program goals and/or assist with client needs/schedules. Travel Required
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The DV Specialist assists victims of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual assault and empowers victims to full recovery and autonomy. Provide case management, access to community resources, and referrals for counseling are provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Answers crisis calls and follows the established procedures for crisis intervention, intakes, safety planning and referrals
- Adheres to a flexible schedule to meet the needs and schedules of clients.
- Conducts need assessments and safety planning for potential program participants.
- Provides case management, supportive services, and follow up that address victim safety, confidentiality, employment, financial security, education, childcare, and other needs for clients who complete an initial needs assessments.
- Assists applicants in forming an individualized case management plan to address long-term goals that promote autonomy
- Teaches initial safety strategies during needs assessments.
- Provides referrals and information to access resources such as victim compensation, protection orders, address confidentiality programs and services available through MOU partners.
- Conducts program intakes, safety planning and assists client with establishing goals and objectives; and provides client advocacy
- Participates in and reports to Team Client Staffing’s
- Coordinates with staff to work cooperatively in efficiently meeting adult and children’s needs
- Maintains case file on each client per established procedures and ensures files complete, accurate and up to date.
- Ensures admission and discharge questionnaires are distributed, collected, and complied in data base.
- Conducts bimonthly follow-up services for three to six months after discharge.
AGENCY COMPLIANCE
- Refers to and complies with the CCI Policy and Procedural Manuals in every part of their job.
- Complies and adheres to assigned work schedule.
- Adheres to the agency’s confidentiality policies, maintaining a high-level standard of confidentiality
- Attends individual supervision, staff meetings, staff training and other meetings required by agency, funding sources and/or professional standards.
- Enters all client activity/services daily into the agency client data base
- Maintains all required documents in a current and orderly manner.
- Submits and ensures all required agency and grant programs statistical and narrative reports are done so accurately and promptly per the prescribed due dates.
- Maintains a valid driver license, proof of required automobile insurance, and Child Protection requirements per agency policy.
- Always be alert to the physical and mental condition of clients and children and report any suspicious situations to the Associate Director.
- Ability to work within agency mission, philosophy and policies/procedures.
- Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all person with dignity and respect.
- Performs other duties assigned and deemed necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the agency.
Knowledge/Experience:
Minimum of Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Science degree plus two (2) years of experience with at risk population OR four (4) years of relevant experience. Demonstrate experience, knowledge, or education in social services; possess knowledge or experience with domestic violence and sexual assault victim advocacy.

- Ability to effectively and appropriately respond to crisis situations
- Ability to effectively present agency services and programs to clients and general public.
- Ability to work collaboratively with agency programs and other organizations outside the agency.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule to meet program needs
- Maintain a working knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet stringent deadlines.

- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Manual dexterity and motor skills are required to use the computer.
- Must demonstrate maturity and the ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.

- Must be physically and emotionally capable of performing the essential functions of the job.
- Must continue to achieve satisfactory rating on the annual performance evaluation.
