Job Summary

Under general direction, will coordinate, schedule, train, and provide restaurant training. Ensure consistency across the department in guest service, policies, and procedures. Will work with various departments in the company to coordinate the training needs of the Food Service employees. Work closely with the Corporate HR Training Manager to develop unique training courses and programs for all restaurants. Train staff within the restaurant to be Trainers. This position’s responsibilities include enhancing employees’ skill, performance, productivity, and quality of work. It will also provide consistency throughout the food service staff.

This position requires a high-level of self-initiative and effective time management. Must be an enthusiastic, confident, and engaging presenter and build positive rapport quickly with employees. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and night shifts


Job Tasks

  • Conduct, coordinate and supervise the onboarding for all Food Service staff.
  • Ensure all required training and certifications are complete.
  • Perform ongoing oversite and coordination of training needs and scheduling of staff into appropriate trainings.
  • Present, co-present, support, coordinate and partner with others to deliver on-the-job and classroom training programs.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques such as role playing, demonstration, team exercises, videos and lectures to appeal to a variety of leanings styles.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve training processes.
  • Update and maintain the digital calendar of trainings for accuracy.
  • Write and update department binders, check list, guides, training materials and test.
  • Train restaurant leadership to become Trainers.
  • Develop, organize and prepare training manuals and other educational materials.
  • Work with department management to support professional development in tandem with Corporate HR Training Manager.
  • Search for gaps in training content and materials that need updating for higher productivity, safety, and onboarding of staff.
  • Plan, publicize, implement and evaluate department events, functions and programs for employees.
  • Publicize employee recognition, incentive and award programs.
  • Design and distribute event communications such as flyers, e-mails, ect.
  • Participate in employee activities as needed.
  • Assists with Manager In Charge (MIC) coverage
  • Assists admin staff with Payroll updates for Seasonal staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Training and Experience

Must excel at providing outstanding Guest Service. Experience as a training coordinator and facilitator, with some experience in course design and 1+ year of supervisory experience required. 6 months + experience in a customer service environment. Theme Park Food Service knowledge and experience preferred but not required.

  • Ability to train, supervise, schedule, evaluate, and monitor the work of staff
  • Ability to create Food Service training material

  • Ability to engage audiences and keep their interest at a high level.
  • Ability to provide an appropriate sense of humor that makes training enjoyable for participants.
  • Ability to learn about company operations and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain CA Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire and Servsafe Manager Safety Certification within one year of hire.
  • Ability to obtain CA Responsible Beverage Server within 30 days of hire

Physical Requirements

  • Able to move and lift equipment and products weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Able to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day and walk up and down stairs, lift, bend, reach, twist, push, pull and carry
  • Able to hear normal conversations on the telephone and in person in a noisy environment
  • Able to see, read, and write instructions and correspondences
  • Bi-manual dexterity
  • This is an in-person, on-site position
