Position Summary:
FAU Harbor Branch, located in Ft. Pierce, is a research institute focusing on marine science and oceanography. Over 200 scientists, staff and students work and study at the site. The Physical Plant department supports these efforts by maintaining the labs, grounds, offices, and campus infrastructure.
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Groundskeeper. - Fort Pierce, FL
Summary of responsibilities include:
  • Utilizing proper PPE, keep walking and driving areas clear of debris, leaves and trash by utilizing leaf blower, rakes and brooms. Keep parking areas free of weeds and debris. Maintain flower beds and grasses in a neat appearance.
  • Wearing proper PPE, maintain lawn areas utilizing commercial lawn mowers, tractors and string trimmers. Operate equipment safely on inclines and near ponds.
  • Assist in securing equipment and buildings during storm preparation; restoring and clean up post storms. Assist in landscape improvement projects. Assist in set-up for special events.
  • Trim bushes, hedges and limbs to maintain line of sight and aesthetics using saws and machetes. Trim trees as needed utilizing chain saws.
  • Maintain and clean lawn equipment in a serviced and ready condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of ninth grade and one year of appropriate experience required.

Experience using commercial lawn mowers, tractors and string trimmers preferred.

Experience using a chainsaw preferred.

Valid Florida driver license required.

Ability to occasionally work outside of normal hours for special events preferred.

Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, staff and students preferred.
Salary:
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour.
