Head Bartender -Cafe Team Lead
The Head Bartender Cafe Team Lead is an integral member of TheatreSquared’s The Commons Bar/Café team. The perfect candidate will be a strong leader with an eagerness to engage with the T2 community. The Head Bartender -Café Team Lead is encouraged to collaborate with the larger T2 team to create seasonal and show-specific cocktail experiences. They are also encouraged to find opportunities to contribute to The Commons and TheatreSquared social media channels. This position reports to the Director of Community Experience and the General Manager of The Commons Bar/Café staff.
TheatreSquared is a mission-driven organization beginning a new phase in a state-of-the-art, 50,000-square-foot, two-venue home. As a culinary and bar specialist—and as a positive, collaborative member of an inclusive workforce—this new staff member will help TheatreSquared answer the question, “How can a theatre be an agent of social change—helping foster a community that is fundamentally more equitable?”
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Strong knowledge of alcoholic beverages and cocktail menu
- Overseeing the inventory of liquor in the bar, ordering new supplies when necessary, and organizing storage space
- Works closely with Beverage Consultant(s) to meet new cocktail demands established to promote shows and events
- Participates in all Cafe Staff duties on a regular basis, as needed
- Serves as a leader for the entire cafe’ team through both excellent work and by actively creating a positive working culture
- Provides optimal customer experience and maintains an inclusive, welcoming community space
- Oversees cafe staff schedules, time-off requests and handles last minute absences coverages
- Delegating roles to cafe staff members based on experience level and ability to navigate the flow of service, especially during high volume hours
- Trains, coaches, and onboards new cafe staff according to company policies specific to the cafe
- Provides direction and feedback to all cafe staff
- Solving problems during service quickly and efficiently, relating to food and beverage quality control, inventory, staffing, equipment malfunctions, or any other issues that may occur during hours of operation
- Oversees cafe opening and closing responsibilities and the staff that is trusted with that task
- Reviews accuracy with all point of sale (POS) and cash handling functions.
- Maximizing resources made available to the cafe, and providing insight to director and general manager regarding budgeting, operational costs, and featured promotions
- Ensure health and safety standards are followed by maintaining a clean and inviting environment of The Commons space
- Attends all TheatreSquared staff and The Commons management meetings
- Available to work 35 to 40 hours a week and occasionally overtime
- Available to work late hours during events at TheatreSquared
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years bartending and/or barista experience
- Leadership experience
- Commitment to excellent service
- Works well with in a team
- Leadership skills and ability to make decisions fast
- Strong problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to stand for long periods
DESIRABLE SKILL SETS
- ServSafe certification
- Social media/marketing experience
- Contribute and collaborate on innovative seasonal and show specific items
- Contribute and collaborate with creating content for social media to advertise our Cafe, The Commons, and TheatreSquared.
- Ability to curate innovative cocktails and beverage program choices
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation will be at least $20 per hour (including a base salary of $15 per hour plus tips), on average per calendar year quarter. Benefits include flexible scheduling, holiday pay, paid time off, allotted show tickets, shift meals/beverages, access to the company employee assistance program, and the opportunity to regularly experience live theatre.
