Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Enterprise Strategy, Market Insights Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Foresight and Competitive Intelligence Sr. Analyst.

The primary responsibility of this role is to identify, track, and analyze societal and consumer trends and provide business insights on industry implications and competitive strategies.

Reporting to the Business Environment Manager, the person in this role will support the Market Insights department's objective to drive the activation of trends to support transformation activities and enhance strategic decision making across the organization through timely and actionable competitive and industry insights.

What you’ll be doing

Lead, continuously update, and improve TrendScape, TMNA’s proprietary trends tracking program

  • Identify, monitor, and analyze short to long-term (through 2050) societal and consumer trends, and identify organizational business implications

  • Manage trends and demographic forecast vendors, including capability assessments, relationships, operational, and financial oversight.

  • Research, curate, and share insights for trends and demographic forecasts to support MI work and requests from internal clients.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to all levels throughout the organization.

By leveraging our trends program and industry intelligence, proactively work with and support internal stakeholders to imagine future mobility scenarios and competitive environments to apply in their business planning, ideating, and problem-solving efforts.

  • Use creative approaches to generate ideas to inspire business planners to imagine the future, analyze competitive actions, and draw implications to Toyota’s business,

  • Engage with stakeholders across Toyota in North America and globally to formally and informally exchange trends, innovative ideas, competitive and business insights.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovative ideas and solutions to drive Toyota’s transition to a mobility company within our evolving marketplace

Proactively expand the team’s internal and external trends and industry intelligence network, to bring new and unique insights and connections within and into the organization

Manage foresight, demographic and industry trends, and innovation ad hoc requests from all levels, which may include executive requests, or support to Market Insights team members with their initiatives (e.g., scenario planning, competitive benchmarking, supporting industry trends research competitive insights for forecast modeling, etc.)

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience in foresight/trends, strategy, marketing, consumer insights, research, or related field

  • Ability to identify future trends, develop and apply a trends framework, and formulate business implications derived from the trends

  • Ability to create and develop networks, both internal and external, to support competitive intelligence activities and the trend tracking program

  • Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly to all levels of an organization across various mediums (verbal, written, visual, etc.)

  • Strong leadership skills, including being an enthusiastic self-starter and being able to take projects with ambiguous guidelines from inception to completion with limited supervision

  • Proficiency in analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data

  • Experience developing quantitative, creative and visual methods of reporting and distributing information

Added bonus if you have

  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree

  • Experience presenting and facilitating cross-organizational projects/workshops/brainstorming sessions

  • Previous work experience in the automotive industry

  • Interest in new technology and digital software that can support leading-edge reporting and integration of our work
