Process Safety Technician Job at Messer Construction Co.

POSITION PURPOSE:
To inspect, replace and document devices that have been identified through the engineering process of equipment as Process Safety devices. These items are designed to protect Equipment, Property and Life. This would be any Pressure Vessels, Pressure Relief Valves, and any type of Hi- Lo cut out switches, Grounding, Dust & Chemical Protection to ensure the safe shut down of equipment before an incident can occur.
This includes Combustion Safety that EGC will not be trained in the testing of Combustion Safety devices but may be required to witness the inspection & testing of these devices so they can be entered into the Process Safety Data Base.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Good organizational skills.
- Good communication skills – written and oral.
- Mechanical inclined and or electrically inclined.
- Basic Understanding of computer Microsoft excel & Outlook email, additional training for the specific database for entering inspection data will be provided.
- The ability to work with a diverse group of clients and individuals with differing personalities and skills internal and external.
- Motivated, energetic, and possess a willingness to train on existing and new programs.
- Possess a working knowledge of PV&ID flow sheets.
- Have legible handwritings skills for hand written reports and or mark-ups of PV&ID flow sheets
CURRENT REQUIREMENTS (ON THE JOB TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED)
- Insure the completion of all testing aspects Following PSP 530 / CBA 4530, PCP 1803, PSP 302.
- Document Inspection status accurately and continually by preparing a Site PS Open Items Log and communicate to EGC PS System Owner and client as each issue occurs but at a minimum of weekly to the EGC PS Owner.
- Emphasize and enforce quality and safety throughout all phases of testing methods and inspections.
- Abide by the policies and procedures received in the training of Pressure Vessels, PRV,
- Abide by the policies and procedures in the EGC Quality Control & Safety Manuals.
- Understanding the items that may require Low Voltage Qualification and forward those inspections to the EGC Process Safety owner to ensure the correct technician completes the inspection.
- Always coordinate with system owners in advance to schedule the needed inspection and to coordinate their assistance in the inspection testing if they are needed.
- Pressure vessel training, 3 -4 days. Then completion of 10 inspections of PV’s prior to being able to inspect on the persons own.
- Pressure Relief Valve training using Section 8 Valves. 2 – 4 days. Then completion of 10 inspections prior to being able to inspect on the persons own.
- Web base training for Electrical, loose lids and or various HI – Lo cut-off switches. Then completion of 10 inspections prior to being able to inspect on the persons own.
- Look To The ability to trace and distinguish (STEAM) (Comp Air) (Water) (Electric) Hidden Dangers
- GMP & Site Safety Training (each Site)
- RAM Awareness MBC Site ( Deals with Radiation)
- Some P&G Sites Deal with enzymes (Some Sites)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent Candidates must have transportation and good communication skills
- Be willing to work within a 50-mile radius. Willingness to travel to other states for work is a plus!
- Be able to work in a variety of seasonal and weather conditions
Abilities:
- Possess all auditory, speaking and communicating capabilities
- Physical requirements: standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50lbs., seeing and reading
