JOB DESCRIPTION: Produce Clerk/Fresh Cut Fruit Clerk

As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the produce clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. Follows Produce Manager/ Produce Head Clerk directions for implementation of the of merchandising program. Receives produce deliveries. Changes signs and prices for weekly or special ads. Inventories floor stock and cooler stock daily writes produce order as requested. Checks order for completeness upon arrival. Maintains cold chain compliances as required by the company policy. Builds and maintains produce displays and rotates stock as needed. Prepares product for placement on sales floor by trimming, washing, banding, or wrapping produce. Replenishes bag rolls in the display aisles as needed. Takes produce from receiving area and moves to the produce department using hand truck or pallet jack. Prepares fresh fruits and vegetables and salads for the Cut Fruit area. Ensures quality, freshness, selection and adequate quantity to meet customer demand. Sets up, maintains and closes the Cut Fruit room according to Company procedures. Controls shrink and cost. Complies with all food and workplace safety rules and regulations. Implements correct product preparation techniques. Uses and operates related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, knives, safety cutters, scales, and garbage disposal. Ensures safety, cleanliness and sanitation of work area, cooler, and equipment. Responsible for performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately and with honesty and integrity

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.50 - $21.51 per hour
