The Standard Journal is a local community newspaper in Milton, PA. who has been providing local news and sports coverage for 133 years! Our primary coverage area is Union and upper Northumberland counties. This is a fast-paced environment and our goal is to produce the most accurate newspaper in the Susquehanna River Valley. Our newspaper covers the school districts of Milton, Warrior Run, Lewisburg and Mifflinburg. Our staff is dedicated to the communities we serve. The Standard Journal is a multi media company connecting our readers to digital and print.

We're looking for an experienced marketing professional with a strong background in newspaper publishing to join an innovative organization located in Milton PA. This position would serve as an assistant editor and would be responsible for producing news and features content as well as covering school board and municipal meetings.
Strong candidates will have a solid news sense with a strong drive to produce hard-hitting, local content that grabs the attention of readers. The assistant editor will work directly with the managing editor to ensure the newspaper reaches its content-related goals.
Candidates must have experience working in journalism, with newsroom experience preferred. Strong candidates will possess a natural drive to publish accurate news quickly for readers to consume.
Responsibilities:
- Write, edit and proofread articles.
- Communicate with community members via email and phone calls.
- Create new content
- Confer with peers in the journalism industry.
- Organize editorial schedule.
- Feature writing and meeting coverage
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
