Senior Accountant – Bookkeeper for CPA firm

We are a boutique CPA firm located in the San Francisco bay area in the Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore valley. We provide specialized accounting services to health care practices (primarily Dental professionals and Physicians). We are seeking experienced accounting and bookkeeping professionals to perform monthly / quarterly writeup and other related functions for assigned clients. We have more than one position open. Candidates must exhibit a high level of professionalism, diligence and good communication skills as the position entails key contact with clients.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Perform accounting services for assigned clients (write-up / bookkeeping services). Using a common general ledger chart of accounts, code client’s check register (or confirm client codes). An in-depth understanding of debits, credits, general ledger and trial balance are essential.

· Communicate with clients to clarify questions, address issues and follow up on missing information.

· Reconcile client checking accounts to the respective bank statements, accounting for differences and notifying client of changes that need to be made to the checkbook register.

· Prepare journal vouchers to record monthly production, adjustments and collections in the general ledger and reconcile the collections to bank deposits. Responsible for accuracy of the general ledger for all assigned clients.

· Prepare ancillary tax services: unsecured property tax returns, business licenses and sales tax returns for clients requesting this service.

Required Skills

· Accounting Knowledge: Solid accounting knowledge covering debits, credits, bank reconciliation, general ledger, trial balance and payroll.

· Accounting Software: Expert Level skills in using accounting software such as quick books (we use ACS Professional Suite by Thomson Reuters)

· MS Office – Word: Advanced MS office skills to compose memos, letters and spreadsheet.

· MS Office – Excel: Intermediate or advanced knowledge of excel.

· 10-key: Expert level ability with 10-key by touch. Minimum 125 keystrokes per minute with no errors.

· Knowledge of business taxes: Understanding of taxes that are integral to accounting such as payroll taxes, property taxes, use taxes, etc. A good understanding of income taxes, both federal and state, would be highly desirable.

· Communication Skills: both written and oral English language skills are important.

· CPA firm experience or bookkeeping firm experience (managing multiple clients concurrently) is required.

· Multitasking: Ability to work on multiple clients at the same time

Qualifications:

Required

· Education: College degree with accounting courses. Accounting degree preferred.

· Experience: 5 years of bookkeeping accounting experience in multiclient client accounting environment required. Preference will be given to those who: have worked in public accounting (CPA firm) or have provided full-charge bookkeeping services to multiple clients concurrently.

· Stable work history. Tenure in previous positions is important.

· Accounting Software Experience: Expertise with at least one major accounting software such as Quick books required. Knowledge of ACS (Accounting Creative Solutions) software desirable.

· Communication skills - The accountant must be able to effectively communicate with our clients and other business contacts by means of telephone, email or mail and occasionally face-to-face.

· Professionalism and Commitment: Willingness to work (paid) overtime when necessary. Overtime will be required during the learning period and during the first quarter of the new year.

Desirable

· CPA firm write up experience (multi-client accounting services environment)

· Tax experience: Ability to do simple tax returns using Lacerte software.
