GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Senior Federal Tax Analyst will report to the Federal Tax Manager in the Pactiv Evergreen Inc. (“PEI”) tax group and will assist in all aspects of income tax including tax accounting, compliance, planning, research and audits.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities of the Senior Federal Tax Analyst include, but are not limited to:
- Lead entire tax function as the central contact for maintaining, operating, and evaluating tax technology and data management solutions.
- Provide user support in Corptax to Federal and State teams as the group Coprtax subject matter expert.
- Timely and accurately prepare or review U.S. federal tax return filings (i.e., 1120, 1120-F, 1042, 5471, 5472, etc.) in Corptax.
- Timely and accurately, prepare or review tax supporting work papers.
- Prepare or review cash tax forecasts, estimated tax requirements and payments.
- Support all quarterly and annual tax accounting functions under GAAP including calculations and analyses of effective tax rates, current and deferred tax, uncertain tax positions, foreign tax credit, and taxes on unremitted earnings.
- Assist in the federal income tax audit defence process.
- Research and plan for federal tax issues and law changes.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing processes for compliance and provision purposes.
- Provide prompt tax support to the tax managers and directors on special projects as assigned.
- Support state tax area in compliance, research and audit defence as needed.
- Serve as mentor to staff at the analyst position.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience:
- Tax experience in a Big 4 firm environment or within a tax department of a major manufacturing company with practical hands-on experience
- 3+ years of experience in income tax or combined experience in tax and accounting. Candidate should have experience with income tax accounting and preparing income tax returns.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Proficient in learning and maintaining tax technology products, such as CorpTax or One Source, for tax return preparation, tax accounting, tax fixed assets, etc.
- Strong analytical skills and a proven ability to work in a dynamic and team oriented environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization skills and ability to meet deadlines
