JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Student Services Coordinator Exemption Status/Test: Exempt/Professional

Reports to: Principal Date Revised: April 2023

Dept./School: Assigned Campus

Primary Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in counseling, educational leadership, or related area from an accredited college or university

Valid Texas teacher certificate

Valid Texas school counselor or administrator certificate preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of current trends and research in the area of student support

Knowledge of curriculum and instructional techniques as it applies to supporting students

Knowledge of related federal, state, and local rules, regulations, statutes, and policies

Ability to analyze data and use date-driven decision-making to implement effective programs

Ability to plan and manage projects including collaboration, coordination, and facilitation of student and adult work groups, including facilitating groups to consensus

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
Two years creditable experience as a classroom teacher

Minimum of three years successful experience in education as a counselor or administrator preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Student Services

1. Coordinate quality activities related to student services to ensure students’ needs are being met, in include but not limited to, Positive Behavior Intervention Supports, Social-Emotional Learning, antibullying, trauma-informed instructional support.

2. Provide professional learning informing teachers of best practices to engage with and support students with additional academic, behavioral, executive functioning and social-emotional needs.

3. Collaborate with the district staff and school administrators to implement research-based student support services with maximize student achievement and enhance professional learning.

4. Collect, analyze, and interpret data and performance measures for dissemination to improve the delivery of student support services.

5. Recommend, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate professional learning activities regarding student services.

6. Participate in school advisory, business, and community groups and activities, serve on committees and councils, and develop community partnerships that support the campus vision, mission, and goals.

7. Lead meetings with teams of teachers to identify students in need of academic and/or behavioral support.

8. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve the desired learning atmosphere in and out of the classroom.

9. Work with the school counselor to coordinate efforts to work with students in need of additional support.

10. Establish annual objectives as deemed appropriate by the principal.

11. Handle parent complaints professionally and effectively.

12. Serve as an advocate for students and families.

Other Related Duties

13. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents.

14. Prepare and submit reports, presentations, and suggestions for continuous improvement.

15. Respond to inquires or concerns in a timely manner.

16. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.

17. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise assigned aide(s) and clerical employee(s).

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; frequent walking

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise; occasional district wide travel

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; may work prolonged or irregular hours

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $53,388.00 per year
