Duties

As a SUPPLY SYSTEMS ANALYST (TITLE 5), GS-2003-9, you will plan, organize, and administer the operation of automated systems in support of the Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS).

  • Provide troubleshooting and assistance to personnel in analyzing and resolving operational program problems through the application of automated supply systems.
  • Plan, coordinate, monitor, and administer the operation, security, and maintenance of computer systems.
  • Act as the primary source of expertise on matters regarding automated systems.
  • Plan the introduction of new hardware and computer programs.
  • Monitor computer installation and use, analyze effectiveness, and make recommendations for corrections and improvements.
  • Work with Compliance and Analysis personnel to assess the overall impact of supply computer system problems.
  • Develop local workarounds to maintain supply support to the organization's mission.
  • Apply downward and lateral directed technology enhancing computer support and manage analytical data.
  • Interface with organization personnel and computer managers for support on hardware and software to report and correct discrepancies.
  • Advise management regarding computer related questions.
  • Serve as the computer facility manager responsible for the overall operations of computer support.
  • Coordinate with management and others when computer support is lost and work to restore support as soon as possible.
  • Evaluate problems and advise management of required actions.
  • Initiate manual accounting and degraded operations.
  • Coordinate the recovery of all transaction activity after computer support has been restored.
  • Maintain and analyze historical data on computer downtime and manual accounting and degraded operations transactions to pinpoint or prevent negative trends.
  • Monitor the use of all computer systems.
  • Assure conformity with all required regulations and instructions of the use, maintenance, and security of computer systems.
  • Assist in the development of checklists and operating instructions.
  • Maintain documentation of all computer hardware and software.
  • Install personal computer hardware and software, monitor all computer projects, and conduct training on the operation of computer equipment to all assigned personnel.
  • Load and maintain database in handheld terminals and perform general administrative functions.
  • Receive, evaluate, and process requests for supply automated data processing management products including standardized listings.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position, your resume must reflect sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position for which you are applying. Time-In-Grade Requirement Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07 Level. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Level - You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-07, in the Federal service in the normal line of progression for the occupation, SUPPLY SYSTEMS ANALYST. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: planning, organizing, and administering the operation of automated systems; providing troubleshooting and assistance to personnel in analyzing and resolving operational program problems; planning, coordinating, monitoring, and administering the operation, security, and maintenance of computer systems; monitoring computer installation and use; applying downward and lateral directed technology enhancing computer support and managing analytical data; and serving as a computer facility manager responsible for overall operation of computer support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-07 grade/level position or equivalent in the federal service.

EDUCATION: Applicants may also qualify on the basis of education as follows: To qualify based on education for the GS-09 level, you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Computer Sciences. (Note: You must attach a copy of your official transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: You may meet the qualifications requirement for this position by combining your specialized experience and appropriate graduate level education according to the following formula: (a) your total months of full time specialized experience as a percentage of a 12 month total; PLUS (b) your total number of qualifying graduate semester or quarter hours as a percentage of one year of graduate study. The total of the two percentages must equal at least 100 percent. (Note: You must attach a copy of your official transcripts.)
