Job Description
The Texas State One Stop works with the offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Student Business Services, and University Registrar to assist students and their families with navigating the admissions, financial aid, and payment processes.
The Training Specialist, reporting to the Assistant Director for the One Stop, will create, design and deliver training for the soon to be established One Stop. This role will also develop and conduct assessments to determine the effectiveness of such training. The Training Specialist will lead both group and one-on-one training sessions and assessments. This position will work closely with designated home office staff to ensure One Stop staff are current on information needed to provide excellent customer service (from the application process to paying the semester bill). The position is important to the overall Enrollment Plan in effectively facilitating students’ decisions to attend Texas State and then persist with their enrollment to graduation. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential to this position. Also essential to this role is the ability to critically analyze processes and provide recommendations to improve them (thus, improving the student journey), as well as the ability to navigate resources, policies, and procedures across multiple on-campus departments.

  • Collaborate with home office colleagues on the development and delivery of comprehensive training for One Stop staff
  • Develop, maintain, and organize timely One Stop training materials on home office and related One Stop business processes
  • Deliver group and one-on-one trainings to One Stop staff
  • Assess staff retention of information imparted during trainings
  • Assess training and assessment tools to maximize training effectiveness
  • Navigate confidential student information across multiple systems
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of office policies and procedures
  • Determine the quickest, most effective ways to answer student or parent questions
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
