WEB DEVELOPER (CONTRACT) Job at All Hands and Hearts Smart Response, Inc.
All Hands and Hearts is a disaster relief nonprofit. Our program bases are located in the communities we serve, and depending on the role you apply for you may be required to visit and/or live in our communal program environments. Please note that vaccination is required for all in-person work environments, including program bases and offices. You will also be expected to adhere to particular safety protocols (including relating to COVID-19), and should understand your responsibility for the safety of yourself and others around you. We will always provide an option for travel-exempt staff to join meetings and events virtually, to ensure we provide an inclusive environment for those who are unvaccinated or at high risk.

Position Purpose
A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. This is a contractual arrangement of approximately 10 -20 hours per month with an experienced Web Developer to support the day-to-day management of our Wordpress-based website.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports to Web Strategist

Essential Functions
- Managing updates and upgrades to our website infrastructure; plugins, themes etc.
- Scope, quote and ultimately execute our website change requests once approved
- Review and provide recommendations to improve our website page performance
- Create and maintain documentation on all works completed
- Write efficient code, adhering to industry best practices
- Support and manage contingency plans for website downtime
- We understand vaccination is the best way to protect our beneficiaries, community members, staff and volunteers. Therefore, we require all staff members working in in-person environments (including program staff, office staff, team meetings and program visits) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Subject to applicable guidance, the term fully vaccinated currently refers to when an individual has received all recommended Covid-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible.

Position Requirements
- Education Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required
- Related Experience Must have at least 5 years of experience working as an advanced web developer in the competitive market. Must have at least 3 years building and maintaining websites in the last 5 years. Experience working with non-profit clients is preferred..
- Special Competencies/Certifications Expert knowledge and control of HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, jQuery, MySQL and PHP. Experience and expertise in server architecture. Experience working collaboratively in GitHub. Experience and knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics. Excellent communication skills. Strong ability to multitask with strict time constraints, budgets and business goals. Good written and oral communication skills and confidence working with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Applicants must be well organized and have a flexible approach to managing multiple tasks and prioritizing them appropriately. The individual must be able to handle a large workload and perform in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation
- Compensation: $75/hour up to 20 hours per month
