PromptMed Urgent Care (www.MyPromptMed.com) is currently seeking licensed Radiology Technician (RT) with the opportunity to cross train as Medical Assistants in the company’s urgent care centers located in Gurnee/ Waukegan, Antioch, Highland Park, Illinois. The Licensed Radiology Imaging Technologist will typically work 4 scheduled shifts a week, rotating 12, 8, and 6-hour shifts among technologists (including evening, weekend and holiday shifts). This opportunity affords working in a brand new, fully-equipped urgent care medical facility, which includes electronic medical records, an onsite digital X-ray suite and laboratory, and fully functional exam and procedure rooms.

We currently have two existing locations serving the Gurnee/Waukegan/Antioch/ Highland Park area. PromptMed delivers high-quality, timely and affordable care in a convenient setting for those seeking immediate medical treatment for sudden illness or injury. The Company operates a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art licensed medical facility, utilizing the latest procedures and technologies, and is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-8:00pm, and Saturday/Sunday from 9:00am-5:00pm, 363 days/year.

We service patients in Antioch, Lindenhurst, Grayslake, Fox Lake, Highland Park, Round Lake Beach, Waukegan, Gurnee, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Libertyville, North Chicago, Zion, Grayslake, Lindenhurst, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Round Lake, Deerfield, Lake Villa, Buffalo Grove and the surrounding Lake County, IL area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Licensed Radiology Imaging Technologist will conduct diagnostic x-rays under a provider’s order and concurrent with medical protocols and regulations.
  • Operate all x-ray equipment in an accurate and safe manner and avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.
  • Prepare patients for x-rays by answering questions and having consent forms signed, where applicable, safely position patients for the best results and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
  • Thoroughly explain x-ray procedure, reason for x-ray and results of x-rays to patients and/or providers.
  • Prepare images for provider review.
  • Prepare charts and necessary related paperwork.
  • Clean x-ray rooms and prepare for next patient.
  • Ensure that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and report all faults.
  • Administer injections to patients as directed by the provider.
  • Draw blood for lab work.
  • Schedule patients for outside imaging studies, lab work and/or specialist appointments.
  • Contact patients with test results within 24 hours of receiving results.
  • Assist with triage of patients (taking vitals, documenting reason for visit, document patient history, allergies) and document all information into EMR system accurately.
  • Assist provider with patient examination, procedures and treatments.
  • Answer patient call-in questions and direct as needed.
  • Clean exam rooms after patient visit by washing and sterilizing medical instruments, discarding disposal materials or trash and prepare for the next patient. Following internal procedures and/or health care guidelines.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures in wearing personal protective equipment when performing duties (i.e. gloves, masks, goggles).
  • Must work early and late shifts as needed and self-coordinate for any absences.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills in clinical practice; attend required in-service training and continuing education to maintain professional certification.
  • Assist in other departments as needed such as clinical, triage, administration, etc.
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms.
  • Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, disinfect, stock supplies, etc. as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Radiography and certified by the ARRT, or equivalent (required).
  • State of Illinois Licensed Radiographer (required).
  • Comfortable treating patients ages 6 months and older.
  • Excellent bedside manner, strong people skills and a positive attitude/personality.
  • Maintain an intense work ethic and be able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Demonstrates skills and abilities in performing accurate x-ray films for diagnostic evaluation.
  • Ability to assess what test is needed, assess the patient and any incapacity or injury and determine adequate plan for securing the best film.
  • Understanding of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually with little supervision and instruction.
  • Sense of urgency in addressing patients and working with staff within all areas of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and courteously collaborate with patients and families, management, clinical staff and physicians.
  • Knowledge of computer functions and ability to navigate electronic medical record system.
  • Organizational skills necessary to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive patient and employer information.
  • Ability to adjust responsibilities to accommodate a fast-paced work environment while maintaining excellent customer service and staff interaction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written.
